Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali.
Meet the representative from Sweet Escape Tours and Safaris when you arrive at Kigali International Airport. After that, you can transfer to the hotel, check in and receive a briefing about your safari.
Day 2: Kigali– Nyanza Palace – Nyungwe Forest National Park.
After a hearty breakfast, head towards one of Africa’s oldest parks or rainforests, Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Take in the Ethnographic Museum and Nyanza Palace. In the past, Nyanza served as both the capital and an epicentre of power struggles. On the way, have lunch, and then continue to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stays at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy walk.
Using a walking stick, you will be able to enter the forest sanctuary early and search for the chimpanzees. You will be guided and given information on the chimps as well as the Nyungwe Forest’s flora and fauna by skilled and informed rangers. Keep an eye out for Black and White Colobus and other species of primates, as well as forest birds. Take pictures and observe an animated family of chimpanzees as they interact. Afterwards, retrace your steps to the lodge.
Take a canopy walk in the afternoon to experience being over the forest. The chance to see the flora of Nyungwe from above is provided by this activity.
Day 4: Nyungwe Forest National Park – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast in the morning, depart for Virunga National Park. Go to the lodge and get there in time for lunch. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon and get ready for the gorilla walk the following day. Dinner and accommodation at the Mountain Gorilla Lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Parc des Volcanoes.
Transfers in the early morning to the park headquarters for a staff briefing.
You head into the forest in quest of the iconic and endangered mountain gorillas, armed with drinking water, a packed lunch, and a walking stick. Although the rainforest is small and serene, it is an amazing experience to see gentle giants in their natural environment.
You will spend an hour with the gorillas and later slop back to the base
Day 6: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali.
After breakfast in the morning, depart for Kigali. Proceed to the airport in time for your next international flight after visiting the Genocide Memorial Centre, or drop you off at your Kigali hotel.
